5 Things to Consider When Buying LED Strips
Where do you want your LED strip?
Will the main lighting, characteristic lighting or ambient lighting be? Are the textures and reflectivity of the surrounding surfaces suitable?
Tip: the goal is to see the lighting effect but not the actual light source; Otherwise, you will see the individual LEDs as "dots" of light, rather than a soft wash effect. If the LED strip will be in sight (the led ceiling lights, for example), then you can use one of our LED extrusion profiles to spread the individual LEDs and create a uniform and uniform light bar.
How bright/intense do you want the light emitted to be?
Different effects and light levels can be produced by different types, numbers and colors of LEDs on a strip, and by using extrusions or profiles.
(To test the chosen position, you can temporarily install an LED strip with adhesive tape and then secure the strip with its sticker only when you are satisfied with the final effect).
Is the surface on which you will place the LED strip clean, dry and uniform?
Standard LED strips have an IP rating of IP33, but for use in wet, splash-prone or wet areas, or in outdoor locations, you can choose moisture-resistant (IP65) or waterproof (IP67) strips.
How will your LED strip turn on and off? Do you want to control multiple zones or areas
regardless of a single controller or controller?

How big is an LED?
The physical dimensions of the diodes of an LED strip significantly affect its light output (measured in lumens). LEDs can offer strips with two different sizes of LEDs. One size is no better than the other: the correct choice depends on the application for which you want to use them.
3528 – With LEDs measuring 3.5mm X 2.8mm, these strips are best suited for home lighting where they will be seen up close. Lighting feature on ceiling decks, plinths, under cabinets, stair steps and windows around.
5050: With 5.0mm x 5.0mm LED, these diodes are 40% larger than 3528 LEDs. They are approximately 3 times brighter and get 3 times more power. Ideal for commercial use where the observer can be further away (high ceilings, color washing of walls, outdoor lighting, ambient lighting for larger areas) or for home applications where more light is required, such as "working light".
